If you’ve found yourself here, the chances are that you asked a question and the folks that would like to help you didn’t understand. Maybe you didn’t provide enough information, maybe your question was too vague, or too open ended, or whatever.. The point is, we’d love to help you, but you need to first do a better job of asking your question.

The information provided here is designed to help you ask a good question, so that you can get the right answer that you need to solve your problem quickly, and you can get back to building your awesome Glide App.

It all starts with the Subject

Try and choose a brief but descriptive subject for your question. (expand on this)

We can’t read your mind

When you post a question asking for help, those that will try to help you will generally know absolutely nothing about your App or what it does or is supposed to do. So please help us to help you by providing a bit of context.

Ask a specific question

If you want your question to be ignored, then the best way to do that is to ask a vague or non-specific question. (expand)

Please show me

A picture tells a thousand words. If you’re having a problem with a specific screen, component, column - then take a screen shot and show us what you have. Even better, make a short video and talk us through your problem. We recommend loom.com

Where is your data?

Please tell us which data source you are using. It makes a difference. There are some things that you can do with Glide Tables that you can’t do with Google Sheets or Airtable, and some things you can do with Excel and not with Glide Tables, and so on. Knowing which data source you are working with will help us diagnose your issue quicker, and will also inform the available solutions.

What are you really trying to do?

Beware of the XY Problem. The XY Problem happens when you want to do X, and you think that Y is probably the way to get it done. So you start working on Y but you get stuck, and so you ask for help with Y. So we start helping you with Y and after a while it emerges that Y won’t actually solve your real problem (X), and there is instead a very simple solution, which is Z. If you tell us about X to start with, then we can go straight to Z and save a bunch of time.

Which Glide Plan do you have?

Please, tell us that because it may impact the available solutions.
